Peter practises exclusively in Family Law

Matrimonial Finance and Divorce
Peter specialises in all areas of ancillary financial relief and related enforcement proceedings, as well as claims between cohabitees and claims brought under Schedule 1 of the Children Act 1989. His cases regularly involve trusts, intervenors, pre and post nuptial agreements, foreign or complex assets, businesses and partnerships, and disputes over jurisdiction.

Peter regularly lectures on current developments in matrimonial finance.

Children and Domestic Violence
Peter also advises and acts in relation to private and public law applications involving children (for parents and local authorities), child abduction and leave to remove cases. He also conducts applications for injunctions in cases involving serious domestic violence and harassment.

Application to stay divorce proceedings. Issue of whether the ECJ jurisprudence Owusu v Jackson applies to Brussels IIbis as well as Brussels I in order to prevent the court from declining jurisdiction on grounds of forum non conveniens.  

BB v L  [2009] EWCA Civ 1263 –
Led by Deborah Eaton QC
Responding successfully (in the Court of Appeal) to an application to overturn a consent order made at FDR.
